Change of Plans

Day 8 - We were so excited to take our tests because it meant we would only have two more days of quarantine, or so we thought.

We took our tests and got ready to take and drop them off in Birmingham.  Of course we couldn't go there without going by Costco but this time it was just to get gas. Roger did the math and it was seventy cents a gallon cheaper at Costco than the cheapest gas station that we had seen.

We woke up the next morning and our test results were in.....One of us had a positive Covid test...What?  No way.  Well we tried to reach out and find out what was going on and if "that person" could retake the test.  We really didn't get any help or answers.  We do think this is a false positive test as the person has had Covid has been vaccinated, no symptoms and none of the rest of us tested positive.  We spent the rest of the day trying to find somewhere else that we could move to, to complete the new quarantine.  The house we were staying in had a reservation that would not allow us to stay for the duration that we needed. We also had to cancel all of our reservations for the period of time that we couldn't be staying at B&B's.  So we are no longer going to the Isle of Skye or completing the North Coast 500 but we will be able continue our itinerary starting in Inverness.  We spent the rest of the evening and the next morning packing up.

When I made the reservation the night before the owner let me know that she wouldn't be ready for us until 5 since she couldn't get to the house until the next day to clean it ans she lives an hour away.  We needed  to check out of our current location by 11:00 so we knew we would arrive to early but didn't have anything else we could do.  We had a very wet drive up to Bedlington but the four hour drive went by very smooth at least for those of us sitting in the back seat.   We decided we would just do a quick drive by the new accommodation just so we knew where we were located.  Just as we were driving up to the house the owner messaged me and let me know that it was ready.  I let her know that we had just driven up so since it was ready we would go ahead and go in.  It couldn't have worked out any better as it was still raining.

We are very happy with the home that we found on Airbnb.

View as you walk in the door.

Just to the left as you walk in.

Lovely kitchen to the left just past the formal dinning.  It also has a breakfast table and a washer and dryer.

To the right across from the kitchen is a half bath.

The living room is straight ahead.  It has a lovely view of the garden.
Off the upstairs landing there are four bedrooms and a bathroom.
