Leslie Castle

Leslie Castle is where we are staying for tonight.

You can't stay in a castle and not sleep in a four poster bed.

What is even better is that it is soooo comfortable.  Definitely the most comfortable bed of the trip so far.

The period furniture is a bonus.

Of course there are items for tea.

We will be eating dinner in here later tonight.

The table is set for our dinner.

The sitting room.

The original doors are very small to keep attackers out.

Office

Ben and Charleen were in the room above us.

I would have to decorate this tree every Christmas.

Views out from the castle gate.

From the gate inward.

Wheat field next door.

The breakfast room.

The story of how they got this piano into the castle was interesting.  We were fortunate enough to hear their son play a little while we were in the upstairs dinning room.
Each windowsill had different themed decorations.

They were able to get an official replica of General Leslie's portrait that is hanging in the Scottish National Gallery.

A little whimsy.

I love this embroidered tablecloth.

Smoked salmon on scottish crackers & mushroom buttons

feta cheese

Parma wrapped chicken (stuffed with haggis for the guys).

A perfect mini pavlova for dessert

of course served with tea.

The wall inside the  personal chapel right off the office area.

Beautiful morning view from the breakfast room.

The view from the entrance hallway out to a nice little sitting area.

The hosts are most gracious and made our stay very pleasant.
